Our neighborhood parks fuel health, social, economic and environmental benefits that revitalize and sustain communities.
Who We Are
We are a nonprofit organization engaging Akron neighborhoods in the revitalization of our city parks. We support communities in citizen led design and participatory budgeting to create spaces that reflect the needs and desires of the neighborhood itself. We help build community ownership of neighborhood parks and support groups in their work to bring vibrancy and community back to these public spaces.
We are building a movement to equitably improve our neighborhood parks to provide all the benefits Akron people desire. We support and provide a variety of programs for our community.
The Akron Parks Challenge asks neighborhood residents and organizations for big ideas and to get involved in making change. A total of 12 parks have been selected since 2018 to receive city-funded, community-inspired improvements.
Akron Parks Collaborative is a growing organization with ever-changing needs. Learn more about the park's mission and hear about our vision for the future.
